San Patricio County / 22 miles out
Brush country.
Out here it's mesquite, ranch roads and long driveways. Most calls start with clearing: senderos, fence lines and a home site, then a pad and a septic system to go with it.
Mathis is a city in western San Patricio County, on State Highway 359 near Interstate 37. Lake Corpus Christi is about four miles northwest.
Ranching and cotton, corn and sorghum farming were the economic base, with winter vegetables added in the 1930s.
Ranch and farm acreage and lake-area lots are the likely mix, such as clearing, pads, driveways and septic.
